Winemaking: 40 year old Syrah vines, 10-year-old Duras vines. Harvested by hand, sorted and de-stemmed. Indigenous yeasts used for fermentation in fiberglass vats. 1 week maceration, only infusion so no pumping over or punching down which keeps it a gentle extraction for a more delicate flavour. Unfiltered and unfined.

Soil: Clay and limestone on the edge of the limestone plateau of Cordais. Shallow soils

Vignereuse (Marine Leys)

Marine works with a mix of local varieties: Mauzac, Loin de l’Oeil, Braucol, Duras and then some Gamay, and Syrah (the most commercial of the varieties, and Gaillac used to sell a lot of bulk must and juice to other regions). She tends to 5 hectares and works organically.
