2019 Landwein- Weinschwärmer
2019 Landwein- Weinschwärmer
Named for the brightly coloured moths in the area (a delicacy for their bats) Weinschwärmer is a single-vineyard blend of two varieties. 2019 was a once-in-a-decade perfect vintage for this vineyard.
Cuvée: Weinschwärmer
Style: Still
Colour: Skin
Grapes/Blend: Pinot Gris 75% , Riesling 25%
ABV: 11.5%
Vintage: 2019
Winemaking: The grapes from the younger Riesling section of the vineyard got pressed directly to maintain a razor-sharp acidity while the Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) grapes were destemmed and fermented on the skins for about a week. The two batches were blended in May 2020 into an old 2.400l barrel and bottled in March 2021.9 more months in the same barrels, with very occasional battonage performed. The wine is not racked and is bottled unfined and unfiltered with zero addition of sulphur.
Sulphur: None added
Soil: Shell limestone
